Google's Android L has been making waves especially following a peak into what people can expect upon its official release. The material design has also been a major point of interest marking Google's shift. This time, people can get a taste of the Android L despite missing out on the Android L Developer Preview. The latest update can provide an Android L keyboard experience ahead of time.

According to a report by BGR, the update came from Shen Ye. People can access the Android L keyboard via the Google Play Store. However, following the release, it was taken out of the store. Fortunately for those who want to access it again, Shen Ye uploaded it on another platform - on Amazon. Google cannot take down the update easily.

The feature offers the same exact keyboard functions found on the earlier version uploaded on Google Play. It is also similar to what has been reported about the existing developer preview. The only thing different this time is that the update or feature can serve as an independent application. The app is free. It does not come with unnecessary ads or rooting requirements.

Rooting the device and adding the feature can also be another way. WonderHowTo provides instructions on how to do so:

Step 1: Download this file directly to your device and install it via TWRP. After the download, go into recovery mode. Do this by pressing and holding the Volume Down and Power buttons. Wait for at least 15 seconds to go into Recovery. Choose Recovery in the bootloader menu.

Step 2: Choose install from the TWRP main menu and access the .zip file that was downloaded in step 1. Swipe to flash, then when it is finished, Reboot.

Step 3: Now that the device has been rebooted then the keyboard should be ready. The only problem is that it will not have the new material design on it. To fix this, go to the Settings of the phone and access Language & keyboard tab. Choose Google Keyboard and switch the Color Scheme to Material under Advanced Settings.
