Eager Droid Bionic fans can get a chance to win the device for free in Verizon and Motorola's new scavenger hunt.

The company recently launched its augmented reality scavenger hunt app where players can get a chance at winning one of the 192 available units. The app, which can be downloaded at the Android store, directs players to hunt the components of the Droid Bionic by snapping pictures and sending them in.

The app lets players build four virtual Bionics that can be sent off to a nearby location. The app will then guide the players to the said location and capture the Bionics to enter the sweepstakes. Each game lasts only 30 minutes, but players can play 48 times a day to get the most chances.

Last week Motorola set up a Facebook page that detailed some specs of the smartphone. It will have 1Gb of RAM and 16Gb of on-board memory, wireless connectivity, 1080 HD video recording and it will run on the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS.

Other features that have been rumored to be with the Droid Bionic are the Motorola Atrix-like device that lets the phone turn into a laptop, a 4.3-inch qHD display, dual-core 1Ghz processors and an 8-megapixel rear camera. Verizon is providing the smartphone with its high-speed 4G LTE network.

Verizon has released a Korean-language commercial on YouTube that points to a release Thursday, but neither Verizon nor Motorola has confirmed that date.

Motorola first demonstrated a prototype Droid Bionic at the Consumer Electronics Show in January, and since then fans have been eagerly awaiting the new phone. At the end of April, Motorola announced it was delaying the Droid Bionic's launch to the third quarter of the year to further enhance the device.

The Droid Bionic's Nvidia Tegra 2 processors and Verizon's fast 4G network could prove to be a serious contender in the smartphone wars.
