This June, Capcom has decided to revive one of the company’s most loved puzzle games in “Puzzle Fighter,” but with an interesting twist. Instead of featuring characters like Ryu, Ken and Morrigan, this iteration of “Puzzle Fighter” will feature the characters from “Ghostbusters.” “Ghostbusters Puzzle Fighter” will be making its way to the App Store this June.

As implied by the name, “Puzzle Fighter” is a game series that mixes puzzle solving with fighting games; hence the appearance of characters from “Street Fighter” and “Darkstalkers.” However, a report from Pocket Gamer has stated that this won’t be the case for “Ghostbusters Puzzle Fighter,” as the game will be more similar to “Puzzle Quest,” which mixes puzzle solving with elements from RPG games.

The Capcom Unity Blog has also stated that a part of the game will be a card game, though that could refer to the collection of various characters in the game. Players will be able to form their own team of “Ghostbusters” by collecting characters from the universe of the feature films. Fans of the film series will even be able to make a Ghostbusters team filled with various ghosts from the Ghostbuster movies.

Developing the game will be a studio called Beeline, which has had previous experience with the “Ghostbusters” franchise. Beeline made a free-to-play “Ghostbusters” game for the iOS back in 2013 and was a tower-defence style game.

Not much else is known about “Ghostbusters Puzzle Fighter” aside from its June release date and the fact that fans will be able to form their own team of Ghostbusters. Given that there are only four important human characters in the “Ghostbusters” film series, one has to wonder if Capcom will incorporate characters from the “Extreme Ghostbusters” cartoon that premiered back in the 90s.

Fans curious about the game can check out its official Facebook page for various updates before it comes to the App Store in June. Fans of “Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo” might be disappointed at the fact that it’s no longer a fighting game, but fans of the “Puzzle Quest” formula should be excited.
