The casting call for the female lead was much speculated and now the movie "Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" has left a rousing trailer which lasts for eight minutes. Now, a trailer can make or break a movie, but how did the extended trailer affect the film?

Sometimes in a two-minute trailer, viewers can immediately see what the movie is all about and what else happens in it. But surprisingly, director David Fincher knows how to keep his audience guessing through an eight-minute trailer.

Fincher, who directed the acclaimed "The Social Network," has decided to extend the trailer of the murder mystery film far beyong the usual two to three minutes.

The first trailer was released for screening via "Straw Dogs" but the new extended trailer can be watched on iTunes. The trailer is a compilation of the complicated narrative which revolves around Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara's characters.

The trailer which gives its audience a better feel of what to expect from the movie, which will be released on Dec. 21.

Craig plays Mikael Blomkvist and Mara plays the lead role Lisbeth Salander. In addition, the trailer also gives a first look at Joely Richardson's character, Anita Vanger. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are teaming up again with Fincher for the scoring. They won an Oscar for their soundtrack to "The Social Network."

The eight-minute extended trailer can be watched on iTunes while here is one of the set of trailers released earlier.
