Gizmodo Australia Android Awards 2013: LG Nexus 5, HTC One, Apple iPhone among Top Android Phones of 2013
Gizmodo Australia announced its choice of best mobile phones of the year 2013. The selection is based on a week-long poll which fetched thousands of votes and here are the results.
Readers' Choice
The Readers' Choice award goes to LG Nexus 5. The Web site congratulated Google and LG on their victory as the top Android mobile phone of the year. About 20.31 per cent of the votes went in favour of the phone. Gizmodo said that the fight was really close and gives statistical evidence of their claim. While HTC One become the close second with 19 23 per cent votes, Apple iPhone 5S received 16.59 per cent of votes. LG Nexus 5 won it merely by 9 votes over its closest rival HTC One. There were only 22 votes which separated HTC One and Apple iPhone 5S, the second and the third names in the list, consecutively.
Editor's Pick
The Editor's Pick award goes to HTC One. Even though there have been plenty of new phones launched in 2013, the Web site did not find any of them as game-changers. It calls the ad-campaigns of the new phones 'nauseous' and states that HTC One was different from anything that it saw this year. The editor, on the other hand, does not think it is a game-changer.
It is also said that HTC One worked more in favour of Australia than one could possibly realise. Calling HTC as the 'first big manufacturer' for introducing Android in Australia, the editor marks it significant for making some of the most incredible gears. The HTC One made people believe in the company once again, it said. The mobile is labelled as 'the new yardstick', 'the hero' and 'the saviour.'
Honourable Mention
Gizmodo does an honourable mention of the iPhone 5S in the list of best mobile phones of 2013. It is true that the Web site does not find any major improvement in the phone, but there is no denying the fact that the iPhone 5S is an extremely good phone, it said.
