Samsung uploaded an article on its official blog, highlighting the various "Gold" colour phones it has brought to the market over the years. The article is seen as a response to some claims that it has copied the iPhone 5S.

Apple released its latest flagship smartphone - the iPhone 5S, amid much fan fare. Customers seem to have taken a particular liking to the gold colour variant of the phone; the company has reportedly made record breaking sales of the device.

Samsung has also released a gold variant of its current flagship smartphone the Galaxy S4. The new colour offering was available in UAE, Kuwait and Qatar. The company also wanted to highlight that it went on sale on Sept 8.

The Samsung Mobile Arabia page on Facebook explained, mockingly, that Sept 8 comes before Sept 10. The Apple iPhone 5S was unveiled on Sept 10. This was perhaps Samsung's way of telling people that it offered the gold variant first.

Samsung recently unveiled two new colour variants of the Galaxy S4, the Gold Pink and the Gold Brown. The social media went buzzing after the release; some users accused the company of copying Apple.

The editorial on its official blog, seems to be trying to put the record straight, as to who came up with a gold colour concept first. The article had a list of phones with a "gold" colour offering.

The article seemed liberal with its definition of the colour "gold," Some of the colours seem to resemble copper rather than gold, according to analysts. But, some of the other devices clearly showed a golden hue.

Users commenting on the article questioned Samsung about how many of the listed devices were touch screen smartphones. Most of the phones, except for the first two latest iterations, did not seem to be smartphones.

With the gold colour iPhone 5S being a big hit in the market, the companies could be seen vying to be called the first to bring it to the market. The colour offering alone however, may be just one of the factors affecting the buyer's decision.

The editorial recognised the customers' craze for the gold colour and said that Samsung has been offering its devices in that colour and sometimes even using actual gold in the body of the device.

So, was the iPhone 5S following Samsung? Or was it the other way around. Readers can come to their own conclusions. Meanwhile rumours and speculation have started to surface about the iPhone 6. Click here to read about the next iteration from Apple.
