Google to Drop Nexus 6 Release Date; To be Replaced By Premium ‘Android Silver’ Line?
Google will drop the Nexus 6 release date, according to latest reports.
According to The Verge, Google will discard the Nexus line and will replace it with a new line featuring new and more high-end devices. The report also cited various sources claiming that the current Nexus 5 smartphone will be the last Nexus handset in the line.
The report continued that the search engine giant will also kill the tablet line, which it started with Google Nexus 10.
The rumoured "Android Silver" line will replace the Nexus program. The line included more high-end and more expensive devices. It was claimed that Google wants to focus on giving consumers devices that are bumped in the hardware side while enjoying pure Android experience.
Moreover, the Android Silver program will also offer different products that will be promoted through various ads. Consumers may see the devices on TV and will battle head on its rivals.
Other reports suggested that Google will not only kill the Nexus line but will also "sterilize Android and remove unnecessary bloatware and skins." Under this new system, it seemed that Google wants to gain full control on Android to avoid products such as Amazon's Kindle and Nokia X smartphone to capitalize on the operating system.
According to Android Police, Google will try to unify the sale and support experience of Android Silver devices. The company owns the prerogative and criteria to select the devices based on its discretion and standards and must "run the latest version of Android with no or very limited customizations."
This information is of vital importance since third party manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, Sony and LG all like to customize the stock Android UI to the point that in some cases it hardly resembles Android at all.
Meanwhile, Google Nexus 6 release date is one of the most anticipated launches this year and it was speculated that the handset will pack a 64-bit version of its Snapdragon 800-series chipset clocked at 3 GHz; 5.2-inch full-HD, curved LCD display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass; 3 GB RAM; 13 MP camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera; Bluetooth; NFC; Micro-USB; Wi-Fi; and 4G.
