Google+ Goes Public, 15 Million Visits in One Week
Google+ got remarkable traffic jump last week, industry tracker Experian Hitwise reported.
Web traffic to Google+ swiftly rose to 1,269 per cent on Wednesday last week, a day after the site opened up for the general public, according to Hitwise research director Heather Dougherty.
Google+ got almost 15 million visits for the week, whereas it had about 1.1 million logged in the prior week, Hitwise analysts noted.
AFP reports, the Hitwise data did not include traffic from mobile gadgets.
"In just one week, Google+ went from ranking as 54th most visited site in our Social Networking and Forums category to 8th place," Dougherty said in a blog post.
Internet giant Google opened google.com/+ to the public on Sept. 20th, at a time when top social network Facebook was introducing changes in its site, which has not been well received by all users.
Among the latest changes at Google+ is the entry of Zynga, which added its most popular title, 'CityVille' to Google's social network.
"It's no secret we're big fans of Google+ here at Zynga," the San Francisco-based startup said in a blog post.
"Last month we announced that we partnered with Google to bring Zynga Poker to Google+, and today we're excited to add CityVille+ to the new game platform," the post continued.
Google+ launched in an invitation-only mode on June 28.
