Google I/O Conference Update, Google Nexus 8 will Arrive July To Feature Android 4.5
Google will soon be releasing its Nexus 8 this coming July, according to recent reports.
Sundar Pichai, Google's head of Android and Chrome, revealed in the previous week the tech giant will be holding an I/O 2014 developer conference this coming June 25-26. Other reports suggested Google may be preparing for the release of the Nexus 8 alongside Android 4.5. What can people expect?
According to Pichai, the Internet giant plans to roll out a new registration system. This will prevent selling out tickets before the event started unlike in the past year.
"Also, a quick note for those who want to join in person: this year we're making some changes to registration, so you won't need to scramble the second registration opens," he said.
"We'll be implementing a new system, where you can submit your interest to attend Google I/O 2014. Successful applicants will then be randomly selected and notified shortly thereafter."
In 2013, Google unveiled new products like Google+ and new Google Maps among others. While the Android 4.5 will be released in July, according to reports, analysts believed Google may shed light on the matter even slightly.
Android Geeks reported they got in touch with a Google insider. But the insider noted the new Android 4.5 will not show up at the event. Instead, the new operating system will be introduced along the Nexus 8 tablet.
According to Android GS, a Google Dublin employee hinted Android 4.5 will have a July release. The company plans to launch the new slate to showcase the latest Android operating system. Also, the employee also confirmed the I/O 2014 conference will concentrate on Google news services. The company has been eyeing the market for quite some time now.
The source claimed Google does not plan to continue Nexus 7 tablet. The 7-inch slate market has grown more competitive and saturated for the past months. The first and second generation Google Nexus 7 slates have been very successful. Google managed to include premium features without driving up the price. While the hint came from a Google employee, analysts will still be giving Google some room of doubt.
It seems unlikely for a company to discontinue of a successful program. The report noted Google wants to focus on the 8-inch market because of fewer competitors. It may be a good venue for the company to extend and create a new market reach. Currently, 8-inch competitors include LG's G Pad 8.3, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and Galaxy Note 8.0.
The employee did not divulge more details about the release of Nexus 8 and Android 4.5. People will have to wait for Google's official announcement. Apple will also be releasing its line of tablets around the same time. Analysts think that the competition will be interesting in the past two quarters.
