Google Nexus 10 2 release date is one of the most anticipated launches this year. But the year comes to a close and there is no sign of Google's tablet.

Many fans are waiting with pins and needles on the launch of Google Nexus 10 2. However, there may not be any Google slab anytime soon. Below are the four reasons why consumers may not see a Google Nexus 10 2 release date on the horizon.

There have been no FCC filings that have looked remotely suspicious. One of the obvious clues for other Nexus devices is FCC filings.

Also, there have been no suspicious Android build fingerprints sighted at GLBenchmark and other sites where people often find pre-release devices. GLBenchmark and other benchmark sites has become a reliable source for leaks of devices bound for release.

Furthermore, there have been photos that are obviously fakes. The only photo that was leaked by Google itself is the 8-inch tablet. There was no sign of a 10-inch slab.

Lastly, there is no new Android Kitkat version to coincide with a device launch. Google has a habit of releasing a new device alongside a new version of its Android operating system. We can only assume that Google Nexus 10 2 is coming if we see legitimate fingerprints of Android 4.5/KitKat MR2 builds.

The only thing that is believable in the swirling rumours of Google Nexus 10 2 is that ASUS could be taking the helm in making the tablet. The rumour was based mainly on inventory screens from Best Buy and PCWorld as well as a screen photo of unknown origin leaked by @evleaks on Twitter.

According to rumours, Google Nexus 10 2 may feature the same 10.4-inch screen display with 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolution. Other features include either a Tegra 4 chip processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset; Adreno 330 GPU; 8MP rear camera and 2 GB of RAM. The tablet will run with 4.4 Kitkat OS and may be available in 16 GB and 32 GB variants just like its predecessor.

There are claims that the device is expected to arrive on or before the Consumers Electronics Show 2014 in January. Some predictions say that Google may either hold a separate launch event ahead the CES event or the company will quietly slip the tablet in the Google Play Store.
