Google Nexus 10 2 and iPad Air are only two of the tablets that will battle head on this holiday season.

Apple introduced the fifth generation iPad Air last month. The tablet is claimed to be the thinnest and lightest tablet in the market. It boasts a lot of high end specs and features. The tablet price starts at $499.

Until now, there is no sign of Google Nexus 10 2. However, Google Nexus 10 2 is bound for release before the holidays or the last quarter of this year, according to reliable tipster @evleaks.

The tablets are expected to engage in a battle this holiday season. Should consumers buy the new iPad Air or wait a little longer for the Google Nexus 10 2?

iPad Air

Apple held its launch event last Oct. 22 unveiling the refreshed iPad line. The new iPad Air is thinner and lighter compared to the previous iPad 4. The device has narrower bezel just like the iPad Mini. iPad Air retained its 9.7 inches retina screen display and included the 64-bit A7 processor and M7 graphics chip that were first packed in the iPhone 5S.

iPad Air price starts $499 and was made available for purchase starting Nov. 1. Consumers can start placing their orders in Apple Online Store.

Google Nexus 10 2

According to rumours, some of the upcoming features of the Nexus 10 2 are full HD display with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution; quad core Snapdragon 800 chip processor; Tegra 4 CPU; 2 GB of RAM; Adreno 330 GPU and internal storage of up to 32 GB. The tablet will run, of course, with the recently released Android 4.4 KitKat OS. It may also boast an improved design.

Tipster @evleaks also claimed that Google dispatched Samsung and will work with ASUS in making the Google Nexus 10 2. ASUS manufactured Google's 7-inch tablet that is considered as a success since the company packed great features and offered the tablet at incredibly affordable price.

Google Nexus 10 2 is speculated to follow the pricing strategy of its predecessor with the 16 GB variant costs $399 and the 32 GB model costs $499. However, despite of a most likely low price, it is still unknown whether the search engine giant will release the said tablet; especially, when the company made the current generation of Google Nexus 10 in India for even a slightly higher price.

Verdict

It is best to wait for a few more weeks and see the developments in Google whether it will also silently slip the Google Nexus 10 2 in Google Play Store. Moreover, if you decide to buy the new iPad Air, waiting a few weeks will not hurt. Moreover, more deals and discounts will most probably emerge during Christmas season.
