Google Nexus 10 Not Getting Translucent Navigation on Android 4.4 KitKat Update
The current generation of Google Nexus 10 made by Samsung will not be able to fully enjoy the perks that Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
The Google Nexus 10 tablet will not get translucent navigation and notification bars with the Android 4.4.1 KitKat update. This feature allows the user to make the wallpaper to cover the whole screen just like in the new Google Nexus 5.
According to XDA Developers Forum, Google developers have disabled the translucent bars on the Google Nexus 10 because it "performs poorly on the device." Reports claimed that it could be due to the low end specifications of the device such as 2 GB of RAM, and the Exynos 5 dual-core processor inside, which has a quad-core Mali TS04 GPU that are not enough to support the translucent navigation and notification bars of the new Android 4.4 KitKat.
However, developers can easily activate the translucent bars by a one-step code tweak, but it will not be the default. The lack of translucent decor may also indicate a bit more pervasive and subtle problem with the device.
Android 4.4 KitKat OS update will arrive to Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 as well as to the Google Edition of Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One over the "next few weeks." A notification will be sent to the users for the Over-The-Air installation of the new Android 4.4 KitKat OS update.
However, the Android 4.4 KitKat OS update will skip the Galaxy Nexus, which was released two years ago. The smartphone will no longer receive the upgrade.
Android 4.4 KitKat OS heralds new and improved features such as new Android interface, updated Phone app which adds integrated searchable contacts, directories in other Google apps, and even nearby businesses.
Android 4.4 KitKat also brings the "immersive mode" that will hide all of your other open apps to allow you to focus on the content you are actually using. A revamped Hangouts app will also throw all of your text messages and video calls into the mix, so you are not backing out to find them in another app.
