Tech manufacturers continue to release new products just in time for the holidays. Those looking for an excellent tablet can find a multitude of choices including LG's G Pad 8.3 and Google's Nexus 10. The latter is set for an October release. Which is better? The 10-inch tablet or the 8 incher?

LG G Pad 8.3

Following the approach for LG's G2 phone, the G Pad 8.3 targets those at the higher end of the market. The tablet starts at $510 which is more expensive than the iPad Mini. This makes it a device offering premium price tag compared to options like Google Nexus 7.

The G Pad sports a larger but chic-looking body frame. As the name implies, it features an 8.3-inch display. LG claimed that the 126.5 mm width was designed to guarantee comfortable grip among users. The G Pad's resolution is at 1,920 x 1,200 with 273 ppi. This is higher than the iPad's 16 ppi.

LG's LCD IPS Display strikes the right balance between red and blue. This gives out an excellent color temperature around 6,588 K (Kelvin). Reference point is at 6,500 K.

Other specs include Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, Qualcomm's 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 600 CPU, 4,600 mAh battery, 2 GB RAM and 64 GB microSD storage.

The whole back of the device is comprised of aluminium offering a premium and classic feeling. The appeal is similar to the iPad Mini. The high-end device is also evident in the physical keys. The keys click comfortably. Other features include wired data connection and microUSB port for charging. There is also a microSD card slot to expand memory.

Google Nexus 10

As the name implies, the next Google Nexus 10 will sport a 10.1-inch screen. EVleaks previously reported about an inventory listing sighting with "Google Asus Nexus 10" label. This confirms the partnership between Google and Asus once more. Asus has been successful in developing tablets for Google especially with the first- and second-generation Nexus 7.

Starting price for the Nexus 10 is at $399. This is higher than the previous model, prompting analysts to think the slate will have more premium features. Other reported specs include Android 4.4 KitKat, a Snapdragon chipset and 2,560 x 1,600 pixel display.
