Google Nexus 2016 release update: Huawei files trademark for Huawei 7P; Nexus 6P or Nexus 7 2013 tablet successor in making
Huawei has filed a trademark for “Huawei 7P.” Rumours are indicating that the company may be working on a successor model for Nexus 6P smartphone. Other rumours suggest that the Huawei will be manufacturing a 7-inch Nexus 2016 tablet.
On April 7, the Chinese manufacturer trademarked “Huawei 7P” with United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The description for the device suggests that it is a mobile device like a smartphone or tablet. However, it does not provide exact information.
The Huawei Nexus 6P that was launched in the last quarter of 2015 has been praised by its users and critics for its impressive hardware as well as stock version of Android. The Huawei 7P is speculated as a successor model Nexus 6P that will arrive with improved hardware, 9 to 5 Google reported.
However, other publications are claiming that the Nexus 7P will arrive as a successor model for Nexus 7 tablet that was released in 2013. Google is usually known for naming its Nexus devices on the basis of their screen sizes.
The 5-inch Nexus smartphones were launched as Nexus 5 and Nexus 5X. And the 6-inch Nexus phones were released as Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P. The 7-inch tablets from 2012 and 2013 were made available as Nexus 7. Hence, there is a possibility that Huawei and Google will be collaborating on releasing a Google Nexus 7P 2016 tablet.
Speculations indicate that Google has chosen HTC to manufacture two Google Nexus 2016 smartphones this year. The Nexus 5X successor will be coming with a 5-inch display whereas the Nexus 6P successor is rumoured to feature a 5.5-inch screen. The upcoming Nexus devices are expected to arrive preinstalled with Android N.
The final version of Android N is expected to be ready by July. Hence, it is likely that Google Nexus 2016 smartphones may release in the third quarter of this year.
