The Oct 24 Google media event is all about the new Play Store, new reports said, likely leading to delayed release date for the LG-assembled Nexus 5.

But as the Google hero phone takes the backseat for now, two new hardwares from the Nexus maker is gradually hogging the spotlight - the 2013 Nexus 10 that Asus will reportedly build and the Nexus 7 3.

The latter is geared to upgrade the Nexus 7 2013 that Google has unwrapped in late July 2013.

In a new report, Gotta Be Mobile pointed to a leaked image of the Asus Nexus 10, which will dislodged the 2012 full-sized stock Android tablet that Samsung was tasked to manufacture for Google.

Unlike the first build, the Nexus 10 2013 edition (click here to view the image) seems configured on portrait mode as its default orientation, a design revision that makes the KitKat 4.4 slate a direct competitor to the recently unveiled iPad Air.

The device looks sleeker than before though the image posted by GBM offers little details as only the front face is bared in the picture. The actual tablet dimensions, save for its 10-inch screen, remains a mystery but Android fans are expecting a lighter and slimmer make, which has become the standard build both for small and large tablets.

Analysts believe that Nexus 10 is coming out flashing a quad-core Tegra CPU made by NVIDIA, which is a powerhouse monster but with equal emphasis on efficient energy. Paired with an IGZO display panel made by Sharp, this Nexus 10 refresh is pegged to last some 13 hours in a single charge, GBM said.

Yet before the big tablet's supposed release date on November 2013, its smaller brother or rather the Nexus 7 3 is already inspiring speculative talks. The 2013 Nexus 7 has been around for around three months yet its better version is now the subject of a separate GBM story.

The meat of the Nexus 7 3 whispers is not on specs and features at the moment, the same report said. It is more on which manufacturer will Google anoint as the next Nexus 7 maker, suggesting that after awarding the Nexus 10 2013 project to Asus, the web search giant is looking for a new name to work on its 7-inch tablet.

Well not exactly new as Taiwan's HTC seems emerging as the top candidate. The HTC One builder is no stranger to Google collaboration as it previously assembled the Nexus One, GBM said.

A Nexus 7 3 project proposal submitted by HTC is now reportedly under Google's study and a decision could be reached by December this year.

Release date for the Nexus 7 2014 edition should happen in the second half of next year while the Asus Nexus 10 is expected to commence its global rollout anytime in November, likely with the LG Nexus 5 and just in time for the Black Friday on Nov 29.
