As the rumoured Nexus 5 is yet to go live on Google Play Store, reports indicate that the Nexus 4 appeared on its stead, very briefly however.

Yes, while everyone is into the guessing-game on when the KitKat 4.4-powered device is actually coming out after missing out the Google Play Oct 24 event, the next best thing, the Nexus 4 that is, mysteriously surfaced on the online store, Gotta Be Mobile said in a report.

On Oct 25, the Jelly Bean 4.3 handset hit the Play Store anew following its supposed retirement by Google. But the silent return, GBM said, was temporary as the gadget quickly went MIA on the same day it became available.

For those quick enough to have witnessed the Nexus 4 ressurection, it was alleged that the 16GB variant was offered for $250 with promises of 2 to 3 days of delivery period within the United States. The package includes the usual Nexus menu - stock Android plus Wi-Fi and HSPA+ cellular connectivity.

No LTE, of course, as this is supposed to be part of the Nexus 5 offering. Was the teaser a signal that Google is outing the Nexus 4 successor very soon?

It could be as the same GBM report said the Play Store order page was refreshed numerous times in hopes that the product will go live again, this time brandishing the Nexus 5 with all its glory, specs and features.

Yet to no avail.

Nonetheless, the same page would likely be up again this week finally displaying the new Google 2013 flagship smartphone, as claimed by a separate GBM report.

Pointing to popular gadget news leaker, @evleaks, GBM said that the Nexus 5 release date seems all go for Nov 1, the claim supported by a Tweet that says: "In white. 11/1."

Attached with the post is a pic that shows the supposed Nexus 5 in a mix of white back plate and black front face with the edge of the gadget wrapped around in what appeared as metallic and bearing the same hue of the gadget's façade.

As expected, Google has nothing to do with what @evleaks has leaked out though it should be noted that previous gadget details from the same source proved accurate.

No info on the Nexus 5 specs came with the Twitter post though Android watchers are convinced that the smartphone is a monster device in the making - with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 CPU, an Adreno 330 graphic engine and up to 3GB of RAM.

If the teaser indeed pans out, the Nexus 5 release date should commence on Nov 1, meaning online ordering via Google Play Store starts on the same day with U.S. buyers getting the unit after only three days of waiting time.
