An insider confirmed that Google Nexus 5 will happen later this year and Motorola is working on the device.

Taylor Wimberly, who was formerly associated with AndroidandMe, said that Motorla is currently working on the Google Nexus 5 release date. In his Google+ account, he confirmed that Motorola is working on a Nexus smartphone. The post does not include many details but it is enough to make waiting consumers excited.

"Motorola will release a Nexus smartphone in Q4 (that is not the Moto X)," he posted on his account.

Mr. Wimberly first tipped off the Moto X before it was released. He also had the inside scoop on everything about Motorola and most of his statements ended up accurate. Thus, it is hard to doubt his words this time.

There were reports that Google's subsidiary and newly-owned Motorola Mobility will work on the device. Google bought the latter in 2011 and ownership was finalized last year. Moto X is the first smartphone by Motorola that is designed and built with Google's direct participation.

Rumours claimed that the Google Nexus 5 will include a 5-inch Full HD screen display; an eight-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz paired with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM; 13MP rear camera; 3300mAh battery capacity and the latest Android OS. The handset is rumoured to be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants and will support 4G/LTE connectivity, which was missing in the Nexus 4.

It was first speculated that the Google Nexus 5 will be made by LG, which made the previous Nexus smartphone, due to the immense success of LG Nexus 4, Google is expected to release the next generation of the device. LG Nexus 4 was sold out in minutes after its release and 400,000 units were sold initially.

However, Google has not yet confirmed whether Motorola is indeed working on the Google Nexus 5 release date.
