Following the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c release, the market now awaits for one other major launch this year - the Google Nexus 5. Google has not issued a confirmation on the matter but the rumor mill has been buzzing saying the release can be just around the corner. Reports have also indicated the Google plans to conduct an event on Oct. 14 possibly to launch both the Nexus 5 and second generation Nexus 10 tablet PC.

What is interesting is that Google is planning an event near Apple's launch event. Apple will reportedly announce their 2013 MacBook Pro and 2013 iPad during the event. This is not coincidental at all. Perhaps, many analysts will agree that this is an excellent marketing strategy.

There have been signs saying that the Nexus 5 will replace the current LG Nexus 4. Reports suggest that the inventory for the product line has been decreasing in stores across the globe. There are also no signs that stores will be stocking their Nexus 4 supply. According to several leaks and FCC sighting, LG could be the company producing the Nexus 5 for Google.

Previously, reports cited a leak on FCC about a new Nexus smartphone. However, it will still be wise to wait for an official announcement from Google before jumping to conclusions. Nonetheless, some sources hold on to the thought that Google's Nexus 5 may be under LG.

If this pushes through then the next Nexus smartphone can be a tweaked or refreshed LG Nexus 4.2 or 44. Additionally, if this partnership materializes LG can see some market gains. LG's G2 remains to have mixed response but companies know that a Google brand can give them a boost. Little or slight, it is still a boost.

However, people should not forget how formidable Asus is when it comes to Google's devices. The company has won both bids for the first and second generation of the Nexus. Asus hit it big with both products earning both good market reception and sales. While the company remains relatively unknown in the mobile handset niche, the slates serve as a good start.

Motorola can also have a shot since it released its partnership phone with Google: Moto X. Now that Google owns Motorola, it also seems a plausible idea that it will stream its Nexus 5 smartphone under it.
