The stage is all set for the supposed Oct 31 release date of the Google Nexus 5, the most solid evidence so far of the gadget existence provided by the tech giant as it uncloaked Android 4.4 or Kit Kat.

In an official Kit Kat clip released by Google, a supersized and modified candy bar, looking like the next Android logo, was seen erected in the company's HQ campus while a crowd of people, possibly employees of the tech firm, were recording the moments.

Now, the eagle-eye folks at Droid Life noticed that the shooters were using identical smartphones that appeared new - a gadget that definitely is not the Nexus 4, the Moto X nor the compact tablet Nexus 7.

The device is phablet-size and "it has the horizontal Nexus logo on it and matte finish like we have seen on the new Nexus 7," said the same Droid Life report.

The tech site added that a man taking some clips and pictures was holding up a giant phone emblazoned with "an LG logo, massive camera sensor with flash, and a similar styling to the G2,"

It has been widely reported that LG is reprising its role as the 2013 Nexus smartphone builder following its last year stint as the Nexus 4 assembler. Back then, the handset was based on the company flagship Optimus G. This time around, it is believed that the Nexus 5 template is the LG G2.

The device was recently unveiled with superior specs and features. The placing of rear-button volume controllers, just below the camera lens, serves as its signature design, which according to LG is for easy handling when playing media files or capturing selfies.

This feature, however, is totally absent with the picture cited though it was not unusual for Google to revise its handset model in coming with the final form factor of the Nexus 5, its maker in fact remains a mystery.

Last check, the Kit Kat promo clip was pulled down, Droid Life said.

But what were glimpsed for a few seconds only fired up the speculations that Google is hard at work to deliver its 2013 flagship smartphone in the coming months, with October 31 as the strongest candidate for the device to go live on Google Play Store, according to Droid Life's anonymous source.

Also, the company has ramped up efforts to clear out its remaining stocks of Nexus 4 by offering price cutbacks of $100 and a visit on its online store would show that the 8GB variant is already sold out. Google confirmed that the model will not be re-stocked, fanning rumours of an impending device launch.

By revealing Kit Kat this week, Google pointed to the inevitable - the Q4 2013 Nexus 5 release date with a 5.2-inch screen with 1080p resolution, a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon CPU, a massive battery and a 13MP main-cam shooter.
