Release dates for the Google Nexus 6, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and other upcoming Android flagships are likely to suffer 'deliberate delays' as device makers are reportedly adjusting their launch calendars and avoid a direct collision course with the iPhone 6.

According to DigiTimes, the prospect of slugging it out with the next iPhone from Apple in the second half of 2014 is proving to be a major headache for smartphone vendors.

Many manufacturers are dead worried that they would encounter supply and productions issues as the supply chain in Asia is seen to get busy and dominated by Apple. The tech giant is rumoured to begin assembly of the iPhone 6 this July for a target global rollout in September.

"Smartphone vendors that are looking to release new high-end models in the second half of 2014 are worried about getting access to enough component supplies as many component makers are preparing orders for Apple's new iPhone," DigiTimes said on its report.

Note that two well-published planned releases in the mentioned period is that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which is believed set for unveiling in early September with the commercial availability to follow in the immediate weeks ahead, and the Google Nexus 6.

The next Nexus debut date, however, remains a big question mark as Google is yet to announce definite details about the device, including the manufacturer who will build it.

Now it could be that Google, Samsung and other Android or even Windows device producers will opt to re-schedule their rollout plan later in the year if only to mitigate the so-called iPhone 6 impact, the excitement for which has been building up for some time.

Not only that component supplies will be hard to secure as suppliers rush to please Apple, the consensus among industry watchers is consumers are delaying purchase plans and wait for the iPhone 6 arrival.

"Consumers delaying their purchases of a new smartphone to include upcoming iPhones as one of their options may impact non-Apple vendors' smartphone sales by 10 to 20 per cent," said the DigiTimes report.

The report concluded too that industry players, without specification on names, have decided to move the issuance of their hero phones from the third quarter to the last three months of 2014.

It is safe to assume then that the likes of the Note 4, the Galaxy S5 Prime the Nexus 6, the LG G3 Prime and the Moto X+1 will not see the light of the day until October 2014.

Release date of the Galaxy Note 4 is likely set a few weeks after its September launch or anytime in October while that of the Nexus 6 is between October and November - both of which are in line with the latest supply chain chatter picked up by DigiTimes.
