Google Nexus 7: Top 3 Shopping Attractions, Price Drop Expected over Upgrade Release
Google Nexus 7 has been touted as a strong Apple iPad mini 2 competition for its impressive specs. This ASUS-manufactured Android device is also easy on the wallet relative to its brainpower and screen display. It remains a popular device among Android fans. And now that an upgrade is coming up, watch out for an even better price.
Australian gadget shoppers can get the Nexus 7 for $259 from MobiCity. This price is for the 16GB WiFi-only variant. For the 3G 32GB device, the price tag is marked $379. In contrast, the iPad mini (4G variant with 32 GB storage) costs $609. Price is definitely one of the main attractions of Google N7. The two other main shopping drawers are its Android OS and the sharp display of its 7-inch 1280x800 screen.
Google Nexus 7: Cheap tablet for Android gamers
Google Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. Users can easily update their OS to Android 4.2.2. This device was the first to be shipped with the 4.1 Android OS iteration. It was unveiled at the Google I/O event in June last year. As the device is approaching its first anniversary, a new Nexus 7 is expected to be unveiled. Gamers in particular are the ones closely anticipating the next N7. Currently, the N7 is an ideal gaming device with NVIDIA's powerful Tegra 3 1.2GHz Quad-core processor (with a 12-core GPU). Much more is expected in the upgraded device.
Nexus 7 users can quickly access Google Play to choose content from its massive portfolio of more than 700,000 apps, games, eBooks, music and magazines.
Google Nexus 7 Beats iPad Mini Screen Display
The Nexus 7 may be smaller in screen size compared to the 7.9-inch screen of the iPad mini. But the competition for better screen does not end there. The N7's 7-inch high-resolution display is rich and sharp with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution (216 pixels per inch). It also features Corning glass protection.
On the other hand, Apple iPad mini sports a resolution of 1024 × 768 pixels with only 163 ppi. To new tablet users, these figures in resolution do not make much of a difference, anyway. But to those spoiled by Samsung AMOLED and Apple Retina technologies will know they're missing some visual value.
If you are shopping for a new small Android tablet, the Nexus 7 makes a good choice. It does not offer external storage. Its body does not have that sophisticated expensive feel of an Apple device. There is also no back camera to play with (only 1.2MP front camera), but for browsing and super media consumption, the Nexus 7 remains a relevant device to this day.
