Nexus 7.7 and iPad Mini 2 are expected to further heat up the battle for big chunks of the small tablet market in 2013. Each gadget's name is not even official yet, but potential buyers already know each device by such name, due to persistent rumors among tech blog sites and forums. Reports are mostly unconfirmed, but buyers are looking for info anyway, because a lot of rumours typically prove positive upon launch date.

Android forum residents are almost certain the Nexus 7.7 will run on Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Talks are persistent that the annual Google I/O developer event in May will reveal the latest Android iteration and the new small Nexus tablet. The Asus-manufactured Nexus 7 was unveiled at the I/O event on June 27 last year. This alone gives reason to believe that the next small tablet from Google will see the light of day in May.

With this, new small Nexus tablet buyers are advised to wait a while longer, unless they prefer the small 7-inch scale. Nexus 7.7 will reportedly feature a bigger 7.7-inch screen display. Rumors also strongly suggest Nexus 7.7 will be a product of LG, raising hope for savvy LG Nexus 4 or LG Nexus 5 communication.

iPad Mini 2: IGZO Screen Display, iOS 7 Rumors

From iOS 6.0.1 to iOS 6.1, the next iPad mini could reportedly run on iOS 7, and be equipped with the latest tweaks into the Apple system. The most exciting update for the next small Apple tablet seems to be its screen display, which will be boosted by Sharp's thin-but-tough IGZO technology. As for dimensions, analysts expect the Apple mini to stick to a 7.9-in screen size and ultra slim chassis.

iPad mini is running smoothly according to most reviews. The frustration that surrounds this ultra thin and ultra light device, has been centered on its screen display. The 7.9-inch screen is not as stunning as its 9.7-inch bigger sibling, the 4th generation iPad. Many reviews dub the current iPad mini a shrunken iPad 2. New buyers are advised to go ahead if they won't be bothered by the absence of Retina technology. Some buyers who were used to using the Amazon Kindle for their e-books shifted to iPad mini for its hand-and-wrist friendly dimensions and relatively smooth processor run. However, fuel-hungry apps like fast-action games are said to be better with Nexus 7.

New buyers will do well in their purchase if they could prioritize their preferences. The next releases may or may not arrive as the rumor mill suggested, but reading up anyway could better sharpen buyers' priorities in their next small tablet.
