Google Nexus X (aka Nexus 6) With Android L Release Date Set For Halloween; Spotted In AnTuTu Revealing Full Specifications
The Nexus X, widely known as Nexus 6, is the forthcoming device from Google/Motorola. Apparently, the official name of the Nexus 6 is Nexus X. This name usage is predominantly because of trademark issues pertaining to Google.
The Nexus X moniker is tied to the model number XT1100. Most probably, the name Nexus 6 became very prevalent in the blogosphere owing to the fact that the upcoming device is the sixth-generation smartphone from Google. In addition, the Nexus 6/Nexus X is expected to come with 5.9-inch display, according to Phone Arena.
Going by the reports, the search giant Google is embroiled in a tussle with the famous author Philip K. Dick and his family regarding the name Nexus. Specifically, in one of his books named "Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep?" the Nexus 6 name was used. It is worth noting that, the movie Blade Runner released in 1982 was based on the aforementioned book. Hence Google is trying to stay away from a potential lawsuit.
Furthermore, the company is planning to launch Nexus X in a secret event later this year. If reports are true, the upcoming Nexus X handset will be released in the time frame of Halloween. This translates to a release in either October or November. Also, the unannounced Nexus X phone was spotted in AnTuTu benchmark testing site recently. The leaked information listed in the aforementioned site corroborates the already existing rumours.
As far as the specification goes, the Nexus X is expected to come with a whopping 5.9-inch display bundled with a killer 2K resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The device will be powered by a superior and latest quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 805) processor clocked at 2.7 GHz and Adreno 420 GPU for graphics. Also, the handset will be backed by a good 3 GB of RAM.
When it comes to camera, the handset will sport a good 13 MP rear-facing camera unit with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and 4K video recording capability in addition to a 2.1 MP front-facing shooter. The Nexus X will come equipped with 32 GB of internal storage capacity. However, there is no mention of expandable storage option.
The benchmark listing states that the next-generation Nexus device will run on the latest Android L/Android v5.0 OS (also dubbed as Lemon Meringue Pie). Moreover, the leaked AnTuTu screen shot showed that the Nexus X scored 35,430 in benchmark testing. The aforementioned score is not a mind-blowing one owing to the fact that LG G3 powered by Snapdragon 801 processor scored a good 39,132.
