Gone are the usual colorful logos used for the Internet search engine on May 11. An animated dancer spelling out the word “Google” was used over a week ago using the series of dance moves popularized by Graham. This marked Graham’s 117th birthday celebration.
Graham was a dancer and choreographer from the United States. She was born on May 11, 1894 and died at the age of 96 on April 1, 1991.
She is regarded as one of the foremost pioneers of modern dance. She danced and choreographed for more than seventy years.
Martha Graham is the first dancer to ever perform at the White House and the first one to receive the Medal of Freedom, the highest award granted to a civilian by the U.S. government.
