Google Pixel 2: Bezel-less design, rear and front dual-cameras and Android 8.0 O expected
The Google Pixel 2 smartphones will come from HTC due to a two-year manufacturer contract. A concept video of the highly-anticipated smartphones shows a very sleek and slender all-screen design and a dual-camera setup.
There are numerous concept designs on the web that talk about possible specs, features and designs of the upcoming smartphones. One such YouTube channel goes by the name Concept Creator, which recently teased the Pixel 2 designs. Of course, concept designs hardly show a real product in its final form, but they are a good indicator of what’s coming. Here, it is important to note though that design details of the product have been really scarce. Hence, the final product may vary a lot from this concept design.
Concept Creator has taken concepts from the Pixel 2 predecessor and also from current flagships. As per the video, the Google Pixel 2 will have dual-camera architecture on both the phones’ rear and front. The current Pixel phones have been greatly praised for sporting highly-advanced cameras. Google says they are the best in the world now. Having dual cameras, both front and back, does not seem like a greatly far-fetched idea. Then there is the bezel-less design that every smartphone manufacturer is aiming for.
The design concept has been a hit, especially with Samsung releasing the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Plus. The Pixel 2 smartphones will look dapper with its all-screen design, which could even be a major selling point if Google at all goes with the concept, writes Tech Times. The upcoming smartphones may sport OLED screens like the predecessors. It will be interesting to stay updated with the rumours surrounding the Pixel 2 phones as they will give an idea as to what specs Google might install in the smartphones.
A 5.5-inch QHD display with screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels is widely-anticipated. 6GB RAM, 128GB and 256GB internal storage and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor seem a logical addition. Fans believe that the Pixel 2 smartphones will also have Daydream VR, the Pixel launcher and of course the Google Assistant. The existing Pixels are not water and dust resistant. Hopefully the upcoming phones will be so with an IP68 rating. Lastly, the battery performance of the smartphones could be increased though software optimisations.
Google may choose to keep the battery sizes the same as that of the Pixel and Pixel XL though. Even though nothing is confirmed yet, there are whispers that the Google Pixel 2 smartphones will have Android 8.0 O (Oreo) as the operating system. Stay tuned on IBT AU for more updates on the next-generation Pixel phones.
