Google to Repackage LG Nexus 4 with LTE Chip, 32GB Memory and Key Lime Pie?
The bets are out which smartphone will get Key Lime Pie first. It appears though that before the rumoured Nexus 4 and Motorola X-Phone, it is the Nexus 4 that will get the hotly-waited Android 5.0 or Key Lime Pie.
KLP is said to debut in the immediate weeks after the annual Google I/O Developers Conference set on late May, prompting experts to predict that the mobile platform's release vehicle is a toss between the two stock Android devices.
Yet according to SidhTech, the first recipient of the latest Android version could be the Nexus 4, which the tech site said will be re-launched right at the yearly Google gathering.
There was no specific mention of KLP on Nexus 4 but the tech site reported that Google is providing significant upgrades for the popular handset.
Among them is an LTE chip, which LG had earlier said was actually embedded with the Nexus 4 phone board, a higher internal memory of up to 32GB and CDMA radio signal compatibility.
The news had indicated that Google is bent on re-introducing the Nexus 4 following the debacles that marred its late 2012 commercial release, in which the device was mostly unavailable or overpriced.
This time around, analysts are hopeful that the mistakes of the past will not be repeated, with Google ensuring that enough supplies will meet consumer demands and the reported fragile Nexus 4 glass casings have been replaced.
Since the Nexus 4 re-launch is happening right after the I/O event, it is expected that Google will allow gadget as the first to carry Key Lime Pie, if only to jumpstart new interests for the powerful but affordable smartphone.
Except for the slight bump ups, the mobile phone is essentially a complete handset, giving it a second coming that could happen as early as June 2013 or months ahead of the rumoured release dates for the Nexus 5 and Motorola X-Phone.
At the moment, there is no specific pricing for the upgraded Nexus 4 though the actual mark should not be too far from the $US299 offered on Google Play store.
