Google TV to Invade Australia with Sony's Internet Player
Google TV is coming to Australia, as Sony announced this weekend that it will be the first manufacturer of the platform for the country. The company promises an “enhanced entertainment experience” as it marries the unqiue featues of Google's SMART TV with its own Internet Player.
With Sony’s Internet Player, Australian consumers will have access to different apps and games available from Google Play, browse the Internet through Google Chrome and watch YouTube videos on their Google TV. They will also enjoy the Player’s unique “smart” remote that includes a trackpad and full QWERTY keyboard, useful for the surfing the Internet through Google TV.
Sony’s Internet Player with Google TV will be initially available exclusively with the purchase of selected models from the company’s BRAVIA TV range. The limited-time offer will begin in retail stores around Australia and online from 28 June 2012.
“There’s smart, and then there’s smartest – and that’s what we think Google TV offers consumers who want the ultimate connected, big screen experience at home,” said Carl Rose, Managing Director, Sony Australia and New Zealand.
Paul Colley, Group Manager of Network Services and Technology for Sony Australia, said Google TV is a game changer because it will bring the Internet experience enjoyed by users individually on the computer to the living room, for the whole family to enjoy.
