Google Inc. gave its Google Doodle fans a one-two punch by posting two doodles to ring in 2012. On the last day of 2011, Google had a Doodle representing the ways people celebrate the incoming New Year. The last Doodle of 2011 had the letters of Google decked out with hats and streamers for the New Year's Eve party with 2012 emblazoned in the middle 'g' letter. Users who clicked on the Doodle were taken to a page that showed the search results of the term "Happy New Year". This marked the first time that Google released a Doodle on the last day of December.

Google's first Doodle of 2012 showed the Google letters performing some common New Year's resolutions. Each letter of Google is doing something that many people are going to be writing down as tasks they want to do for 2012.

The big G is listening to headphones trying to learn new languages. Both Os are trying to get in shape, something that many people are resolved to do this year but rarely follow through. The small G is strumming a guitar to represent those who plan to learn playing a new instrument in 2012. The L is reading or studying. Meanwhile, poor E is stuck cleaning up the mess from the New Year's Eve party of the night before. Clicking on any of the letters brings up a page showing the results for the term "New Year's Day". Some of the results show New Year's Day news or that the Rose Parade will be pushed to Monday in the U.S. because it's never held on a Sunday.

Neither Doodle is animated. Maybe the Google Doodlers were too busy celebrating to show off some nice animation.
