Gorilla Glass 3 Upgrades Promises 40% Cut in Visible Scratches; To be Part of Next Gen Apple Devices
The engineered glass with combined thinness, lightness, and damage-resistance Gorilla Glass is coming back, more resilient and much better. The developers of this scratch-resistant glass promised that the new version will have 40 per cent reduction of visible scratches, three times resistance against scratches, and has 50 per cent more strength boost.
It is tougher because of the molecular level feature called Native Damage Resistance or NDR which reduces the propagation of flaws, appearance of scratches, and does a better maintaining the overall strength of the glass.
Gorilla Glass 3 is expected to be included to the next generation of Apple devices such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
And speaking of next generation iPhone, there is a rumour that iPhone 5s will be the next version just like iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 4s releases made by Apple. The iPhone 5 is said to be slightly less responsive or there will a slightly noticeable decrease in touch sensitivity compared to older version.
But Apple will switch to a new technology called the Touch On to combat that touchscreen interference which is causing problems to some users. Touch On technology will have better touch sense capabilities and offers a display which is thin and durable. With the arrival of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the next generation iPhone plus the Touch On technology, it is an important factor if the improvement in scratch damages and the diagonal touch input problems can be addressed by both technologies.
There are no definite dates about all of these expected improvements and devices on when they will come out and become available, but there are rumours the Gorilla Glass 3 will make a debut at the CES 2013. The iPhone 5s or 6 and Samsung Galaxy S4 are all being waited in 2013 for a new year round of smartphone battle.
