'Gotham' Season 01 Episode 14 Recap: 'The Fearsome Dr. Crane'
The Gotham City Police Department is called in to investigate the murder of a man who was found on a rooftop after having been thrown over the edge tied to a rope. Harvey calls in a woman whose phone number was found in the victim’s pocket. She turns out to be Scottie, an attractive redhead who happens to be going to the same support group as the victim. Harvey takes an interest in the girl and learns that the support group is for people with phobias.
Harvey and Jim investigate a lead, and in the process, they are able to save another victim. The second victim survived and revealed that he has a phobia for pigs. The phobia connection is established and Harvey decides to go to the support group to both woo Scottie and investigate further. While there, Scottie gets kidnapped by one of the guys in the group. Luckily, they knew what Scottie’s phobia was and they were able to rescue her before the killer could drown her. However, the man manages to escape.
Meanwhile, the first victim’s body was examined by Jim’s new love interest, Dr. Leslie Thompson. She tells him that the killer has taken the adrenal gland at the moment of death. They try to figure out what the motive could be behind the move over a dinner date.
While his love life is on the right track, his relationship with the young Bruce Wayne has fallen on the wayside. Bruce has become frustrated with Jim due to the lack of progress in his parents’ murder case. Bruce learned that the only witness was lying and didn’t really see the killer. Bruce tells Jim that he will handle the investigation himself.
Elsewhere in Gotham, Fish Mooney tells Don Maroni that Penguin has been double-crossing him. Maroni tries to kill Penguin but he manages to escape by dropping Don Falcone’s name to the crane operator hired to crush him. Mooney thought she was safely leaving Gotham to regroup when the episode ends with her having a face-off with an attacker on her escape boat. Part 2 of “The Fearsome Dr. Crane” airs next Monday on Fox.
