'Gotham' Season 2, episode 5 preview: Theo Galavan recruits more villains [VIDEO]

In next week’s episode of the FOX series “Gotham,” Captain Nathaniel Barnes (Michael Chiklis) learns exactly what he’s dealing with in the Gotham City crime world. Apart from the threat brought about by the partnership of the Galavans and Penguin, the Pike Brothers also make an appearance.

According to the episode 5 synopsis shared by TV Guide, Theo Galavan (James Frain) and Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor) will join forces with a powerful family. As if their nefarious partnership isn’t wreaking enough havoc upon Gotham City, they bring in more reinforcements.

The episode trailer reveals that Penguin continues to bow to Theo Galavan’s wishes. In the previous episode, the businessman manipulated Penguin into becoming his assassin, after he kidnapped Penguin’s mother. [scroll down for video]

After failed attempts to find her, Penguin is forced to do what Galavan wants. The trailer gives a clue about the new family that will get into partnership with them. In the video, a masked character wields a flame-thrower and goes on a pyromaniac frenzy.

According to previous reports, The Pike brothers, a group of Arsonists, have been cast into Season 2. The group is led by Joe Pike (Leo Fitzpatrick), and their sister, Brigit Pike (Michelle Ventimilla), is reportedly the female iteration of the DC villain called “Firefly.”

Meanwhile, Captain Barnes is seen in the trailer, expressing shock and amazement at the boldness of Gotham City’s criminals. Someone fires a rocket launcher at them and he voices out his disgust. Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) and Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) assure their newcomer boss that Gotham doesn’t have ordinary criminals.

Elsewhere, the motive behind Theo Galavan’s evil plans for Gotham may soon be revealed. It becomes clear that his family has a long rivalry with the Waynes.

“Gotham” Season 2, episode 5, titled “Scarification” airs on Monday, Oct. 19 at 8:00 pm ET on FOX.
