GTA 5: 2013 Game of the Year?

"Grand Theft Auto," (GTA) 5 reportedly got a rating of 10 from IGN. Will it be enough for the game to be named IGN's Game of the Year in December 2013?

Since the release of Rockstar's GTA 5 in September 17, 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, it has become one of the most popular games of 2013.

According to IGN, GTA 5 has been rated 10/10 from July-Sept. 2013, making it a contender for the annual IGN Game of the Year. The only game to have received a perfect score 10 is Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us." So, it could very well be a showdown between these two games.

Other games such as Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker," received a 9.8 rating, while 2 games were rated 9.6, which are Nintendo and Intelligent System's "Fire Emblem Awakening," and Nintendo and Monolith Soft's "Animal Crossing: New Leaf."

Meanwhile, 3 games received a 9.5. These games are Image & Form International AB's "SteamWorld Dig," Ubisoft's "Rayman Legends," and "The Fullbright Company's "Gone Home."

So far, IGN's top 10 games of 2013 are:

1. Last of Us 10

2. Grand Theft Auto 5 10

3. Wind Waker HD 9.8

4. Animal Crossing: New Leaf 9.6

5. Fire Emblem Awakening 9.6

6. BioShock Infinite 9.5

7. Gone Home 9.5

8. Rayman Legends 9.5

9. Fez (PC) 9.5

10. SteamWorld Dig 9.5

According to IGN, the Top 7 games will likely battle it out for the title, but since GTA 5 and "The Last of Us," are the only games from the bunch that scored a perfect 10, then it is anticipated that it will come down to these 2 games.

But, with GTA 5'S huge popularity and fan base, it could be the one to come out on top. Watch out for more news of the 2013 IGN Game of the Year awards in Dec. 2013.
