This early, the leak has been dubbed by Mail Online as Snappening after an unknown 4chan user claimed to have obtained the naked images from Snapchat.

The problem was caused by a third party service which gathered the images the past few years and posted them to a Web site. This same third-party service had saved the images and threatened to publish them on the Web, reports The Telegraph.
The bigger problem is a legal one since about half of Snapchat users are minors in the age group 13 to 17, which would mean most of the nude images are children.
Snapchat, however, stressed that is servers have not been breached and it is not the source of the leak. A spokeswoman said, "Snapchatters were allegedly victimized by their use of third-party apps to send and receive Snaps, a practice that we expressly prohibit in our terms of use precisely because they compromise our users' security."
Snapchat said that it has monitored the App Store and Google play for illegal third-party apps, which it has successfully had the apps removed.
Latest messages posted on the 4chan Web site hinted up to 200,000 nude images would be released soon.
While the images shared on Snapchat may "disappear" after just a few seconds, this is one potential headache that the popular messaging app and their users would wish to vanish forever.
This early, Snappening has been compared to Fappening. Blogger Kenny Withers warned, quoted by the Daily Mail, "To put this into perspective, just imagine the celebrity nude scandal ... Now replaced iCloud with Snapsave and blow this up by hundreds of thousands of accounts. Now you have the Snappening."
Given the huge numbers of leak photos involved for the two nude leaks, Fappening and Snappening may just see the selfie, particularly the one taken without clothes, die a natural death in 2015.
Here's more details about the Snapsave.
