Hall of Fame announcer Michael Buffer has said that the much-anticipated mega-buck fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao can be considered as one of the biggest events that the sport will ever witness. However, the 70-year-old veteran announcer maintain a neutral stance regarding the outcome of the fight as he refused to say who will emerge victorious if the fight indeed happens.

The boxing world saw some of the biggest showdowns between the world’s top fighters. In the last three decades, the boxing fans were entertained with super fights like Hagler-Hearns, Tyson-Holyfield, Pryor-Arguello, and Leonard-Hearns.

In this current era, the boxing public has been calling for an epic clash between undefeated American fighter Mayweather and the eight-division Filipino world champion Pacquiao. According to Buffer, there is no doubt that the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will be one for the books. He even compared it to the Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier and Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard fights.

“We’ve had these great moments and this (Mayweather-Pacquiao fight) would be right up there and we’d have to see what happens after the fight if we still say the same thing,” Buffer told Luis Sandoval of Fight Hype. “It would have to be considered one of those great moments in boxing history.”

Mayweather and Pacquiao are two of the greatest fighters today. Both have been hailed as boxing’s best pound-for-pound fighters. Regarding who will win in the elusive boxing match between the two, it may be hard to choose against Mayweather because of his perfect record. For Buffer, he simply grinned when asked about his opinion on who will win. Should the fight materialize, Buffer thinks that the fans will be the winners because they will witness the fight that they have been longing to see since five years ago.

In less than two weeks, the boxing world will soon find out if the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will really happen. Pacquiao has said that he will be looking at other potential opponents if he doesn’t get the Mayweather fight.

Until Mayweather makes a decision, it seems like Pacquiao will continue to taunt the undefeated boxer. Posting a series of tweets, Pacquiao has called out Mayweather again.

Mayweather-Pacquiao fight is the fight that the boxing world wants to see. Will it ever become a reality?
