'Halo 3: ODST' Is Coming To The 'Master Chief Collection' In May
When “Halo: the Master Chief Collection” came out many were excited, but eventually disappointed once they played the game. Riddled with bugs and almost no access to multiplayer resulted in developer 343 having to release various patches to fix the game. Recently, 343 decided to reward “Halo” fans for their patience, not by just fixing various errors, but by giving the users a re-mastered “Halo 3: ODST” for free next month.
The official announcement was made on the Halo Waypoint Blog, where a number of “Halo” related issues are usually addressed. Aside from “Halo 3: ODST,” players can also expect a number of improvements on multiplayer maps, along with a number of tweaks that will help improve the game.
Fans who are hoping to get “Halo 3: ODST,” must have purchased “Halo: The Master Chief Collection” from Nov. 11 to Dec. 19 last year, according to a report from Polygon. I’s currently not known if buyers who bought the game after Dec. 19 will have any sort if access to the re-mastered “Halo 3: ODST,” though one can assume that it will be released as a paid digital game.
To those unaware, “Halo 3: ODST” is a spin-off title from “Halo 3.” Instead of focusing the narrative on long-time protagonist Master Chief, players instead assumed the role of an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, or an ODST, who must find out what happened to his missing teammates.
What made “Halo 3: ODST” unique was its open-ended campaign mode. Players could play the levels in any order they wanted, without any particular restrictions. Users could also play the “ODST” campaign with a group of friends, if they feel like they need the help.
343 industries was the studio that was given the reigns of the “Halo” franchise after the series’ original studio Bungie decided to make games that weren’t just for Microsoft consoles. Bungie soon released Destiny, while 343 worked on additional “Halo” games like “Halo 4,” “Halo: Spartan Assault” and the upcoming “Halo 5: Guardians.”
“Halo 3: ODST” will be available next month to users who bought the “Master Chief Collection” before Dec. 19 last year. Only the game’s campaign mode will be getting re-released, though its multiplayer mode could come in a future update.
