‘Halo 5: Guardians’ Dev Announces Changes Based On Multiplayer Beta Feedback
It’s safe to say that the “Halo 5: Guardians” that players have experienced during its multiplayer beta run won’t be exactly what players can expect once the game releases later this year. If anything, fans can expect their feedback to be part of the big changes that will be reflected in the title.
More than just a way to test the title before its launch, the “Halo 5: Guardians” proved to be developer 343 Industries is calling as a true working beta. What this means is that, after the three-week beta the developer has compiled the feedback from fans to create a list of improvements for the game.
When details for “Halo 5: Guardians” have started to trickle in, fans learned that there will be some special Spartan abilities coming, one of which is the Sprint. This has been subject to many debates and discussions, where fans are said to have split reception on the new features. In the latest blog update at Halo Waypoint, the developer announced the ability to turn off the new feature.
These changes to the Spartan abilities have been drafted to ensure that the players can enjoy the game on their own terms, while bringing it closer to the traditional way that Halo is played. Apart from these, there are a few more changes and improvements to the general mobility of Spartan abilities, as listed below:
- Increase in base speed for faster base movement
- Increase in strafe acceleration
- Reducing the sprint speed
- Modifying Ground Pound controls to avoid conflicts with crouch jumping
- General fixes and tunings for other Spartan abilities
Weapons will also seem some changes for “Halo 5: Guardians,” with the developer putting particular care in ensuring that the weapons will be balanced against each other. The newest weapon Hydra will also see some buffing so that it will be a true weapon in the game, following the mixed reception of fans.
“The team has spent the past few weeks poring over player feedback from the aforementioned sources and from this we have developed an extensive list of improvements for the game, including adjustments to Spartan Abilities, Weapons, Competitive Skill Ranking and much more,” said 343 Industries executive producer Josh Holmes over at the Xbox Wire.
Alongside the different changes coming for “Halo 5: Guardians,” 343 Industries has also revealed some statistics for the beta last December. It revealed that more than 20 million matches and a total of over 2.5 million gameplay hours played. Not only that, there were over a total of 181 million kills and more than 92 million assists. But best of all, the medal for the rarest achievement, the Killpocalypse, has been earned.
Polygon reports that “Halo 5: Guardians” player Omnipression was the only one who successfully obtained the Killpocalypse medal. The source features the footage that showcased the glorious killing spree, also seen in the video below.
