Harrison Ford has been released from the UCLA hospital last week after receiving treatment for critical injuries sustained from his March 5 plane crash in a golf course in California. Sources tell Us Weekly that the 72-year-old actor is a “strong guy” and that he is “on his way to healing.”

Ford’s representative previously told Us in a statement that the sustained injuries were “not life threatening” and that the actor is expected to make a full recovery. The “Indiana Jones” alum was reportedly spotted driving in Los Angeles on Saturday, leading to the assumption that he is already in good condition and is recovering at home.

Ford, an experienced pilot, crashed his 1942 Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR aircraft on Pernmar Golf Course in Venice, California after an engine failure just 20 seconds after take-off. The actor managed to steer his World War II vintage plane away from houses and crash landed onto open space in the golf course, just 800 feet from the airport runway he was aiming to return to.

Fortunately for him, an off-duty spine surgeon was playing golf that morning and immediately rushed to his aid. The surgeon, who was later identified as Sanjay Khurana, found him conscious but in a complete shock, and ordered that Ford be taken to UCLA Medical Centre, where he was initially assessed with “moderate” trauma, Page Six reported.

Calista Flockhart, the actor’s wife, has been with him throughout the whole ordeal, helping him through his recovery at UCLA. While he is now in the comfort of his own home, sources say that Ford will continue to undergo therapy to further mend his pelvis and ankle.

This was not the first time Ford has had a close shave, The Independent stated. He and his flight instructor escaped uninjured after being forced to crash-land his helicopter during a training flight in 1999. A year later, he saved himself and a passenger after making another emergency landing when the Beechcraft Bonanza single-engine plane he was piloting met strong gusts of wind, forcing him to abandon his flight.

Meanwhile, Ford is set to return to work in his breakthrough role of Han Solo in the popular “Star Wars” franchise. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” is due to premiere in December.
