Heidi Klum Tops List of Most Dangerous Celebrities on the Web
Top Ten lists are a staple in the entertainment industry but this is one list that celebrities would rather not be a part of. McAfee has released its annual list of its most dangerous celebrities on the internet. Searching the names of these celebrities will yield more than a ten percent chance of running into a website that will crash your computer. Don't say you haven't been warned.
1. Heidi Klum- McAfee says that Heidi Klum fans who type in "Heidi Klum and downloads." "Heidi Klum and 'free' downloads," "Heidi Klum and screensavers," "Heidi Klum and hot pictures" and "Heidi Klum and videos" are "at risk of running into online threats designed to steal personal information. Clicking on these risky sites and downloading files like photos, videos or screensavers exposes surfers or consumers to the risk of downloading viruses and malware."
2. Cameron Diaz- The actress' name is less risky this year with fewer sites that are dangerous. Given the movies she's been in recently like "Bad Teacher" and "Green Hornet" maybe the hackers were giving her a break.
3. Pier Morgan- Morgan took over for Larry King and is now the most dangerous male celebrity. He's also one of the judges on "America's Got Talent." Good to know.
4. Jessica Biel- 2009's most dangerous celeb falls to fourth place this year. McAfee notes that "Biel continues to be in the spotlight with her on-again, off-again relationship with Justin Timberlake."
5. Katherine Heigl- The former Grey's Anatomy star and rom-com princess debuts on the list at number 5.
6. Mila Kunis- Another debut for the McAfee list. Kunis star has risen with performances in "Black Swan" and the crowd pleasing "Friends with Benefits".
7. Anna Paquin- Sookie Stackhouse climbs up the most dangerous list to number 7.
8. Adrianna Lima- "Searching for downloads of this Brazilian beauty can direct users to 'red-ranked sites,' "those considered most dangerous by McAfee's SiteAdvisor tool. Searching for Lima, a Victoria's Secret Angel, "became slightly safer, moving her from No. 6 last year, to No. 8 this year."
9. Scarlett Johansson- The "Iron Man" and "Avengers" star has had a spate of scandalous news items recently which probably added to more fan activity on the internet.
10. Emma Stone, Brad Pitt and Rachel McAdams- A three-way tie for tenth places puts perennial most dangerous celeb, Brad Pitt with newbies Stone and McAdams.
"While slightly safer than last year, searching for top celebrities continues to generate risky results," Paula Greve, director of Web security research at McAfee, said in a release. "Consumers should be particularly aware of malicious content hiding in 'tiny' places like shortened URLs that can spread virally in social networking sites, or through e-mails and text messages from friends."
