Hideo Kojima reportedly left Konami earlier this month
After Hideo Kojima’s fallout in “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” a couple of months back, the well renowned creator has officially left Konami. Kojima was initially removed from “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” out of work disputes, but now it seems like there’s no chance of him ever returning to the company again.
A source revealed the new information in an interview with The New Yorker. The source revealed that Kojima has officially parted ways with the gaming giant on Oct. 9. The informer apparently attended a farewell party for Kojima recently. However, Konami is yet to confirm if the “Metal Gear” creator really did leave.
The New Yorker notes that Kojima’s contract with the company will last until this December. Both parties are quiet on the terms of agreement but it seems that Kojima is not allowed to sign in.
Before this reported departure of Kojima from Konami, the two has been on bad terms for quite a while apparently. Gamespot reports that Kojima was very likely to leave Konami after he was taken out of “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.”
The two parties started having issues after an apparent power struggle ensued mid-way during the development of “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.” The senior members of the studio of Kojima Productions were then given restrictions in the company including limited access to both emails and phone calls.
The struggle between Konami and Kojima Productions led to problems in the development of other games as well. One of which is the now-cancelled “Silent Hills.” The game was a very anticipated title by fans and it featured other prominent names including Guillermo del Toro and Norman Reedus.
