High-Difinition Gaming: Next-Gen Mobile Devices To Cater Near-PS3 Graphics To Gamers (Video)
Leading Game Developer Electronic Arts has announced their plan to provide mobile users with even better gaming experience by catering near-PlayStation 3 graphic quality in the next wave of mobile devices.
In an interview with IGN at E3 Convention, EA Labels President Fran Gibeau said the company is anticipating the mobile gaming industry to get even stronger with the arrival of cutting-edge gadgets.
Mr Gibeau added that Electronic Arts has already started taking mobile development to another level by working on several projects, including the development of Frosbite games for iOS and Android devices.
"In the near future, the next wave of tablets and phones will have nearly Xbox 360 or PS3 capabilities in terms of graphics," Mr Gibeau told IGN. "Some of our engine technology that used to be console-specific now can, with modifications, be able to power games on tablets and on phones in the near future. We're just getting ready for that."
However, Mr Gibeau said the transition will not be easy at all as it requires a major re-designing of the game.
"You have to redesign the game," he explained. "You can't just bring it over and have a virtual D-pad on the tablet. It doesn't work. You have to re-architect it around touch, voice, camera."
"Our teams are having a lot of fun with that, reimagining an experience on a tablet using the same graphics and assets in some ways, but completely remixing the meal. Same ingredients, completely different meal. That's kind of the way we think about it," Gibeau said about the development of near-PS3 Graphic for future mobile games.
