With the hotly anticipated release of the iPhone 5 supposedly only weeks away, tech blogs and articles are fixated on every little bit of iPhone 5 rumors and news they can get. Here are some of the more interesting ones to emerge in the past week.

A report from 9 to 5 Mac has a purported sighting of the mythical iPhone 5 in the hands of an Apple employee. Reading like an account of a Bigfoot sighting, a tipster saw the iPhone 5 in the hands of an Apple employee on a train. The enterprising tipster shot a few photos of the device and submitted it to Internet fans to speculate over. The tipster is apparently stumped as to what the device is since it doesn't fit into any previous iPhone designs. He believes that the phone would fit into previously rumored thinner iPhone cases. The rumored cases are green and thinner, with room for a bigger screen.

Another interesting rumor from MobileFun claims that they have a design document and a mock-up of the iPhone 5 cases. The document shows a 4-inch screen and a "home" button that is sensitive to gesture commands. The volume buttons have moved to the left side, directly opposite the ringer switch. The bottom of the case has holes for a separate speaker, main microphone and USB dock connector.

Of course with any rumor these all have to be taken with a grain of salt. The reported iPhone 5 sighting in the hands of an employee is unlikely given what happened last year with the stolen iPhone 4. Apple has acknowledged that it sometimes tests its phones by letting employees use them in the field.

The iPhone 5 is still said to be arriving in September.
