How to Connect Mac to TV with HDMI for Full Video and Audio Support?
Needless to say, watching a movie or playing a game on a big screen makes the experience way better than merely looking at the 13-inch or 15-inch screen of the Mac. Maybe you have already tried connecting your laptop to your TV in order to watch a movie or simply to have a better screen to work with but if you haven't figured out how to do it yet, here is your guide.
Truth is, you don't need to undergo a lot of hassle or shell out a lot of money to connect Mac to TV with HDMI for full video and audio support. The process is actually easy to follow. The process will need a third party connecting cable to connect the Mac to the TV. After completing the process, the Mac will export both audio and video signals to the TV.
First you have to make sure that your TV has an HDMI port, otherwise you won't be able to connect the Mac to your TV. However, LCDs and flat screens today are mostly equipped with HDMI port already. After checking, you are now set to prepare the materials needed.
- An HDMI cable
- A Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. (if you are using a Retina Display MacBook Pro, you won't need this because the laptop comes with a built-in HDMI connection.)
Whatever your intended purpose is, the best way to connect a MacBookPro, MacBook Air, iMac or Mini to an HDTV screen is with HDMI.
After gathering all the materials necessary you can already connect the Mac to your TV screen with the HDMI cable.
After connecting the HDMI adapter to Mac's video output port, connect the HDMI cable to the Mini Display Port to the HDMI adapter. Basically, you just have to hook the two cords together. Afterwards, you connect the Mini Display port to the Mac. And lastly, connect the HDMI cable's male end to the female port in your TV.
The steps above must do the trick. After following the steps mentioned, your Mac should already display its screen on your TV. In the event that you want to set back the settings you can simply disconnect the HDMI cables and change the TV display setting back to its previous settings.
