Notification alerts introduced on Android 5.0 Lollipop last year created a lot of buzz and Android 6.0 Marshmallow later began launching notifications. Users soon realized it’s annoying to get alerts every time an app opens. They complained and Google quickly came up with a disable option to eliminate pop-ups, states Phonearena.

Users now have control as to which app can appear in the preview panels so they can only check what they want to rather than going through all the pop-up lists. With this, users can have more privacy to install and get notifications from any app they choose and avoid those they don’t want, reported Android Headline.

So, how does the disable option work? Let’s find out.

Go to the Settings menu and choose the ‘disable’ option under which there is a ‘sound and notifications’ menu. Select ‘notifications’. Thereafter, the ‘notification’ option shows a list of apps. You can disable the ones you don’t want to alert you.

In case you don’t want notifications from any particular app, choose the ‘block all’ option.

Turn off the ‘allow peeking’ option in ‘do not disturb mode Priority’ list so every time there’s a notification, it shows in the status bar but won’t appear as a heads-up preview. As a result, you can later check the notification if you want, but this won’t invade your privacy.

Turn-off the sound if you don’t want your phone to buzz every time there’s a pop up. Marshmallow 6.0 is full of options that help you handle notifications shown by apps.

There’s a deluge of apps you can download and there’s no point in receiving alert messages from all the apps. You only need to know about latest updates from the apps most important to you.
