Cupertino-based tech giant Apple showed off its latest and updated operating system in the recently concluded WorldWide Developers' Conference with brand new and exciting features.

This is the first Apple WWDC event since CEO Tim Cook shuffled the leadership at the company and since iOS chief Scott Forstall left Apple.

The event was held in San Francisco, CA wherein Apple presented its new and improved iOS update, which gives the mobile operating system a superb design and some new features for iPhone and iPad fans such as quick-access system controls, automatic app updates, and Apple's AirDrop file-sharing system.

iOS 7 will be available to your iPhone and iPad this fall. As usual, registered iPhone developers get a crack at the new iOS 7 beta beginning today, but iPad developers will have to wait for a few weeks. However, if you are one of the many consumers itching to try out the new iOS, follow the tutorial below.

  • In order to download the iOS 7 beta version, a user must have an iOS developer account. This costs $99 a year, which you can purchase at Apple's website.
  • It is not recommended to use your own personal device, as beta versions of operating systems can be buggy and crash. However, if you are willing to take the chance of bricking the phone you use every day, you may do so. iOS 7 currently supports iPhone 5 (CDMA and GSM and global GSM), iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 (GSM, GMS Rev A and CDMA) and iPod Touch 5th Generation.
  • You will also need to register your developer device in the iOS Development Center. You will not be able to complete the iOS 7 beta installation without authenticating the device.
  • Backup your files on iTunes. This is a precaution just in case the device crashes and loses your data and you have to start from scratch, you can grab the backup from iTunes.

Once you satisfied all of the above requirements and procedures, you can now proceed to the actual downloading and installing of iOS 7 beta.

  1. Download the iOS 7 Beta file for your specific iPhone model off Apple's website. Developers and users must log in with their information to access the download files for iOS 7. Once downloaded, the file you download will show up on IMZDL, but could take a little time.
  2. Open up iTunes, and Restore your iPhone with the iOS 7 beta. On a Mac, make sure you are holding down alt/option when you click Restore, and on Windows, hold down Shift when you click Restore.
  3. To find the iOS 7 beta file for restoring your iPhone, check out your downloads folder, or wherever the download with the specific iOS 7 beta went. The iOS 7 beta file should be the most recently downloaded file that ends with ".ipsw."

However, a couple developers have reported problems activating their devices after installing iOS 7. Thus, everyone is advised to proceed with caution or download the iOS 7 beta version at your own risk.
