Apple recently released an update for EFI firmware for late 2013 13-inch Retina MacBook Pros. The firmware update provides a solution to trackpad and keyboard problems on the device. According to reports, users expressed having problems with a frozen tackpad and keyboard preventing them from working with the device properly.

According to an update announcement by Apple:

"MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.3

This update is recommended for MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, late 2013) models.

This update addresses an issue where the built-in keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad become unresponsive."

The trackpad and keyboard issues sprung up a few days following the launch of the laptops in late October. There were users who complained about episodes of the trackpad and keyboard freezing. The problem can only be solved if users resulted to a hard reset. This has caused problems for people doing work on the MacBook Pros. Apple promised users that they will be providing an update fix a few days after.

According to Apple's release notes, the firmware update will specifically target problems resulting to unresponsive keyboard and trackpad. Apple is offering the update for download on its Mac App Store.
