The team behind the "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff series is making their last-minute casting change with just days left before production for the pilot begins. It has been confirmed that "Smash" actress Krysta Rodriguez is no longer a part of CBS' "How I Met Your Dad" cast members as she leaves the upcoming TV show.

The exclusive Deadline report revealed changes had to be made after the 29-year-old actress-singer's table read. "After a table read, producers decided Rodriguez wasn't working out and have decided to rejigger the role. Such shakeups are common both before, during and after the pilot creation process - nobody is ever really assured of having any given role until after the full series goes into production in the summer," the Entertainment Weekly report noted.

Krysta Rodriguez was initially cast as one of the "How I Met Your Dad" lead characters. The actress was supposed to portray the "sexy, flamboyant force of nature" and successful fashion blogger Juliet, the best friend of Greta Gerwig's lead "Mother" character Sally.

CBS will now look for a different actress to portray the character but no details were given yet as to who will replace Krysta Rodriguez. "How I Met Your Mother" creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas together with Emily Spivey of "Up All Night" wrote the script for "How I Met Your Dad."

The spinoff series will be telling the story from character Sally's point of view revolving around a new group of friends living in New York City and how she met the father of her children. The Entertainment Weekly report claims the HIMYD lead character Sally is "a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she's going in life. She has just figured out that she has nothing in common with her husband (Anders Holm) of less than a year and will find a solid circle of support in her friends and family."

The actors who are set to portray the three male leads in "How I Met Your Dad" are Drew Tarver, Nick D'Agosto and Andrew Santino. According to Zap2It, "How I Met Your Mother" expert Rob Greenberg will be directing the pilot after Pam Fryman handed over the responsibility due to a family emergency, but she will still be the executive producer of the show.
