How to Make Your Own iPhone Projector [VIDEO]
There are a number of projectors available for iPhone; however, most of them come with a hefty price tag. However, a member of Instructables created a Do-It-Yourself iPhone Projector.
Iamlegend taught readers made out of a shoebox, duct tape, a marker, a few of Lego bricks and a magnifying glass.
According to Iamlegend, this DiY iPhone Projector is a fun and easy project that anyone can do. Setting it up can only take up around 15 to 20 minutes and costs only a dollar. Iamlegend also said that the thing really works and allows one to enjoy a whole movie through your own iPhone.
All you have to do is to place the magnifying glass on one side of the box and place your iOS device (iPhone or iPod Touch) aligned in front of the magnifying glass on the other side of the box. Ther could be a need to prop it up using Lego pieces or to hold it in place with play-doh.
Here is the step-by-step procedure:
Step 1: For this project, you will need the following:
- A shoe box
- A knife
- Duct tape
- A magnifying glass
- A marker
- LEGOs
- Hot glue gun
Step 2: Seal all the holes on the shoebox with duct tape to prevent light from escaping of peering through the box.
Step 3: Cut out a circle where your magnifying glass will fit. The magnifying glass should be place on the center of the one side of the box.
Step 4: Place the iPod Touch or iPhone opposite the magnifying glass. Use some of your children's LEGOs or Play-doh to keep the iOS device in place.
Step 5: Use the device. Turn off the lights in the room so you can clearly see the picture. You can somehow tweak the resolution of the pictures by adjusting the brightness in your device.
Tips:
- Use the projector in a room that has no windows and without any lights.
- To get a bigger screen, move the projector farther from the wall that it is projecting on.
- Use a white wall or cloth to project the image.
It seems that Iamlegend is not the first person to invent a DiY projector and we found this YouTube video dated back in July posted by someone named Dylan who tags himself as a Household Hacker. The video shows how to make your own version of iPhone projector.
You can visit the Instructables website for the step-by-step procedure on how to make a cost effective iPhone projector. It may not be a replacement to high class projectors, but you can admit that this projector will cost you nothing and can be a fun project with your kids.
