Your Samsung Galaxy S4 can now be rooted and a rooting procedure is now available for I9505 models with Jelly Bean 4.2.2 XXMDM firmware version. Rooting your Samsung Galaxy S4 will allow you to control the processors and install custom ROMs from developers.

Warning: Rooting any Android device will void its warranty. Re-applying the original firmware of your Galaxy S4 will restore the lost warranty. Developers are not liable for any damages which may occur on your device. Read and follow the instructions carefully to avoid damaging your phone. Do this at your own risk.

Prerequisites

1. Create a backup of all your personal information, settings and data files on your device via Samsung Kies PC Suite or manually.

3. Make sure that the battery level is at least 50 per cent to prevent power interruption during the rooting procedure.

4. Download the XXUAMDM Rooting Firmware and the Odin tool on your computer.

Rooting Procedure

5. On the Odin tool, click on the "PDA" button and select the .tar file which is found on the extracted firmware package.

6. Now select "start" to begin the firmware update. The device will reboot automatically after the update.

7. After the reboot, the device will display the home screen and you can now disconnect the device from your computer.

8. Use the Root Checker app to know if the rooting procedure succeeds.

If you get stuck with the boot loop or on the welcome screen, remove then reinsert the battery then follow the instructions once again.
