Sony Xperia ZL runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and heavily packed with features including 13MP rear camera, Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and 5.0-inches of screen display. You can update the device with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean using PACman 22.2.0 custom ROM - a combination of Paranoid Android, CyanogenMod & AOKP.

Requirements:

  • Use this custom ROM only to Sony Xperia ZL and never attempt to any other device.
  • Create a backup of all your personal information, settings and data files on your phone.
  • Battery level must be at least 40 per cent to prevent any power interruption.
  • Enable USB debugging mode on your device. Go to "Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging."
  • Rooted the Sony Xperia ZL to install this custom ROM. Click here to unlock the device and install a custom recovery image.
  • Download the PACman 22.2.0 custom ROM and the Google Apps package on your computer.

Flashing Instructions

1. Connect the Sony Xperia ZL to your computer then copy the PACman custom ROM and the Google Apps package you have downloaded earlier on the SD card of your device.

2. Turn off the device and reboot it into Recovery mode by Press Volume Up + Power keys.

3. In the Recovery mode, select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition."

4. Go back to the main menu and select "advanced > wipe Dalvik cache."

5. Now return to the main menu and select "install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card." Select the PACman custom ROM then confirm installation. Do the same with the Google Apps package.

6. Once the installation is complete, go back and select "reboot system now."

7. Wait for about 5 minutes till the device finishes boot up for the first time.

Congratulations! Your Sony Xperia ZL is now running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version with PACman custom ROM.
