How To Update T-Mobile Galaxy S2 T989 To Android 5.1.1 Using Paranoid Android ROM
Paranoid Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is now available for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 T989 smartphone. It is an Android Open Source Project or AOSP based software running Linux 3.0.
Requirements:
1. Apply this custom to the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 T989 only.
2. The device must be rooted with a ClockworkMod custom recovery installed.
3. Create a backup of all data files stored on the smartphone.
4. Make sure that the battery level is at least 80 per cent to avoid power interruption.
5. Enable USB Debugging mode on the device found in the Settings menu.
6. Download and install USB Drivers for the smartphone to the computer.
7. Download the Paranoid Android 5.1.1 custom ROM and the Google Apps to the computer.
Warning: We are not responsible for any errors which may occur on the Samsung Galaxy S2 T989. Read and follow the instructions to avoid damaging the device. Do this at your own risk.
Flashing Instructions:
1. Connect the Samsung Galaxy S2 T989 to the computer using a USB cable.
2. Copy and paste the Paranoid Android 5.1.1 custom ROM and Google Apps zip files to the microSD card of Galaxy S2. Do not extract the zip files.
3. Disconnect the smartphone and turn it off.
4. Reboot into Recovery mode by pressing and holding the volume up, home and power keys at the same time.
5. Inside the Recovery mode, create a backup of the current ROM by selecting “backup and restore > backup.” A copy will be saved on the SD card which can be restored using the “restore” option.
6. Perform a full wipe on the device by selecting “wipe data/factory reset” and “wipe cache partition.” Now go to “advanced > wipe Dalvik cache” then go back to the main menu.
7. Install the Paranoid Android 5.1.1 custom ROM by selecting “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card > select the custom ROM zip file > confirm installation.” Apply the same method for the Google Apps zip files.
8. Once the installation has been completed, go back to the main menu and select “reboot system now.”
